Angola 2000 is an independent, non-profit organization whose main objective is to
promote and serve the needs and the interests of the people of Angola by strengthening
the individual and institutional capacity of the people so that they can play a meaningful
role in the process of national reconciliation and reconstruction.
Angola 2000 was founded on November 23, 1999 by a group of young and dynamic Angolans who were
inspired by an ardent desire to play a significant and constructive role in the search for Peace,
Democracy, Justice and Sustainable Development in Angola.
The failure of the Alvor Accords, the Bicesse Accords and the Lusaka Protocol to bring
meaningful changes in the lives of millions of Angolans and the re-ignition of a most
vicious and brutal civil war in 1998, served as the necessary catalyst for the formation
of this vibrant and fast growing organization.
The momentous signing of the Memorandum of Understanding of Luena on April 4, 2002, on the
other hand, catapulted Angola 2000 into the mainstream of Angolan social and political debate
as the peaceful environment that has prevailed since then has provided us with the ample
opportunity and space to work hard towards the fulfillment of our vision and mission for
our country and its people.

Angola 2000 has the capacity to provide the following services and expertise:
- Research and surveys
- Organizing and facilitating workshops in areas of expertise
- Consultation services in areas of expertise and interest
- Training and capacity building for community organizations, and much
more in order guarantee the sustainability of projects
- Conflict prevention activities, mediation and promotion of dialogue between Government, NGO's, political parties, business
and communities
- Development, planning, monitoring and evaluation of strategies in areas of expertise
